The most popular legend of Saint Christopher describes him as a very strong man who made his living carrying people across a dangerous river. One day a small child asked for his help. The child was so heavy that Christopher feared they both would drown. When they finally reached the other side, St Christopher told the child of his fear. The child turned to St. Christopher and said.."You had on your shoulders not only the whole world but Him who made it. I am Christ your king, whom you are serving by this work." The child then vanished. |
